In 1971, Ralph and Sandy Cheatwood were called to the mission field out of Calvary Baptist Church, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After graduating from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, in 1975, they began their ministry in Turkey. For most of the next 15 years they lived in Turkey where Ralph mastered the language and the culture of the people. Ralph made a trip into Bulgaria and found there were thousands of Turkish speaking people.
Rev. Fred Potter, pastor of Brookside Baptist Church in Bristol, Tennessee, and founder of Charity Baptist Mission, asked Ralph to oversee a work in Bulgaria which the Lord had put on his heart. Ralph began evangelizing Turkish speaking people in hundreds of villages in Bulgaria. Armed with his fluent language skill as a 'door opener' and the truth of the Gospel as the power unto salvation, Ralph has seen thousands come to Christ under his preaching in the last seven years.
January of 1994, Ralph was overseeing five other missionary families, 10 national pastors and 30 churches. The Bulgarian government then made it impossible for missionaries working openly to receive residence visas. Ralph, Sandy and the missionary families working with them moved across the border into Romania where they live today. They are able to go into Bulgaria a month at a time and continue to oversee the work now led by the national pastors as well as starting new churches in Romania.
The Lord has rewarded Ralph's faithfulness for the years spent in Turkey when he saw so little fruit for his labors.  There are now 8 missionary families and one single man working together in Romania and Bulgaria. Ralph's prayer has always been to establish a work with the Word of God and a spirit of worship. This is what the Lord is allowing him to do.

Dear Friends in Christ,                                                                                                                                                                                 August 2009

Greetings, in the wonderful name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We never cease to thank Him for all He is doing.  New villages are opening up to us every month.  The only problem we have is getting to them all.  Souls are being saved and the churches are growing in the Lord.  We have heard many wonderful testimonies from the new believers about what the Lord has done for them.  We have had people saved that we thought never would get saved.  The Lord is good and there is still power in the Gospel!

This summer we have had two baptisms.  We baptize in the river.  We baptize in the afternoon and then have an all-night meeting.  We had sixty-five in the first group that got baptized and forty-five in the second group.  We will have another baptism shortly.  We are thankful for all that have been saved and have followed the Lord in water baptism.

We are still giving out thousands of DVDs of our church services and these all-night meetings.  The believers watch them every night and loan them to their neighbors.  This has been a great evangelistic tool and also a real blessing to all the churches.

Recently we have had to spend over $1700.00 in repairs on the vehicle we use for Casa Julia.  Since we do not have allotted funds for this expense, it lessens the money we have to spend for the children in other areas.

If you would like to help us purchase a new vehicle, please send a tax-deductible donation marked “Casa Julia Vehicle” to our clearinghouse.  The children and we thank you for your consideration.

Casa Julia Children's Home Summer Update August 2009

Dear Friends in Christ,

Here we are in the last third of a very HOT summer.  The children of the Casa Julia Children's Home Complex are "brown as berries".   They are happy and healthy.  We thank the Lord for His loving care over the 10 Home Kids and the 6 1/2 Missionary Kids.  Dara's baby will join the group the middle of October.

In September, six Home Kids will go off to school with Melil!  How excited they are about beginning 1st grade.  The Lord has provided a different school---one better suited to their needs.  Meli has kept up her studies all summer and is ready for 3rd grade.

Our 6 Missionary Kids study at home using DVD's---3 will be in 3rd grade, 1 in 7th and 2 in 10th.  Although not as exciting as going out to school, the DVD's are work well.  Many thanks to our Home church, First Baptist Church at Coconut Creek, Florida for providing them.

We want to thank everyone who had a part in clothing the children for school.  What a blessing it will be to send them off to school in new clothes.

Please pray much for each of the children as they begin school.  Also, please pray for Dara as she delivers her baby boy at home in Romania.

In His Lovely Name,
Sandy for all at Casa Julia

Matthew 25:40  “And the King shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Dear Friends In Christ,                                                                                                                                                                              October 2001

As the end of the year draws to a close, we look back and praise the Lord for all He has done.  We thank Him for remaining faithful, especially during these times.

This past month, we were able to baptize 80 Turkish and converts in Romania and 370 in Bulgaria., for a total of 450.  The churches are growing.  All the believers are excited about what the Lord is doing for and with them.

Besides the more than 1,200 children we feed daily through these local churches, we are now opening a new children's home to take in unwanted babies.  We feel led of the Lord to do this.  By His grace we plan to raise them up for His glory.

We appreciate your prayers and support.  May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
